Teams
Organizations, members, and roles
Invite teammates, assign roles, transfer ownership, and audit activity across your organization.
Everything on Startbase lives inside an organization: projects, agents, billing, and members. Solo builders get one automatically; teams share projects by inviting members to the same organization from Settings → Members.
Roles
| Role | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including deleting the organization and transferring ownership. One per organization. |
| Admin | Manage members, invitations, and organization settings, plus everything Members can do. |
| Member | Build: create and edit projects, chat with the agent, publish and deploy. |
| Viewer | Read-only: browse projects and previews, but cannot change code, publish, or manage anything. |
Inviting members
- Go to Settings → Members and click Invite member (owners and admins only).
- Enter their email and pick a role: Admin, Member, or Viewer.
- People who already have a Startbase account are added immediately; everyone else gets an email invitation.
- Pending invitations are listed with a Revoke action until accepted.
Invitees open their invite link, sign in, and click Accept invite to join with the assigned role.
Managing the organization
- Change a member's role from the dropdown on their row, or remove them from the kebab menu.
- Transfer ownership (owner only): pick a member, then confirm by typing their email. You become an admin.
- Rename the organization or change its slug in Settings → Organization (owners and admins).
- Leave an organization from Settings → Organization; deleting the organization entirely is owner-only.
- Settings → Activity is the audit log: member changes, invitations, project events, and ownership transfers, each with the actor and time.
