Plans and credits
Compare Free, Starter, and Pro plans, understand how credits work, and manage your subscription.
Startbase is a subscription-based service with a free plan and paid plans. When you subscribe, you get access to more features and a higher monthly credit allowance. Credits are consumed when the AI generates code, runs builds, and deploys your apps.

Credits
Credits measure AI usage. Each prompt, code generation, and build consumes credits. The cost depends on message complexity: simple changes use fewer credits than complex, multi-file edits, and bigger models with deeper thinking cost more per message. One credit covers roughly one average build message; under the hood it equals 250,000 AI tokens of allowance.
Creative credits are a separate pool used for media generation: images and sound your projects create. They appear as their own bar on the plans page.
Published apps can also use AI and email at runtime through the Startbase gateway. That usage draws from the same credit pool at the same cost basis, and every app has its own runtime allowance so a busy app never drains your whole balance. The default allowance depends on your plan (2 credits on Free, up to 125 on Pro), and you can raise it per app from the plans page.
Credits reset monthly and unused credits do not roll over. When your credits run out, agent turns pause until the period resets or you upgrade.
Build incrementally. Small, focused prompts use fewer credits and produce better results than large, vague requests.
Tracking usage
Settings → Plans shows your credit and creative-credit bars for the current period, a daily usage chart, your Cloud projects against your plan's included count, and a per-project breakdown so you can see where credits go.
Managing your subscription
You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Plans. Checkout and billing run through Stripe, and Manage billing opens your Stripe portal for invoices and payment methods.
- Upgrades take effect immediately with updated credit allowance
- Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period
- Cancellation preserves access until the end of the billing period
